Demon army was played as the final challenge of the first day of the heats and was the warriors' first encounter with Demons. This challenge was not played in the final week.

In Demon Army, the six warriors are split into two teams of three and set against five Demons who advance on them - three in front and two behind.

Four of the Demons are "normal", dressed in brown, however, the demon in the centre is dressed in black and has the power to regenerate once.

The three warriors must use a giant catapult (with two warriors holding and positioning the ends, and the other firing it), and shoot rocks at the Demons, who will slowly move forwards (one step at a time), edging towards a ring post front of the warriors. If a rock hit a Demon, it would be destroyed.

If the warriors shot the Black Demon, it would disappear in a white flash like his fellows, but then rematerialize further back where it was at the beginning of the challenge. If the warriors wanted to vanquish the black demon, they would have to shoot him twice, as he could only regenerate once.

The aim of the challenge was to vanquish all five Demons before they reached the ring post. If any of them did, the warriors would be eliminated by the Demons and lose a life.

Ring count[]

There were three rings on the ring post the Demons were walking to, so the three warriors would get one ring apiece.

Later series would have the Demons' demise leave gold rings in their wake when they were shot.

Performances[]

Teams shown in bold managed to complete the challenge. The underlined warrior in each team was aiming.

Description[]

The team facing this challenge had to operate a catapult which fired boulders at advancing Demons. The Demons would take steps forward after every shot and the team would lose the challenge if a Demon reached the line in front of them. The Demons were arranged in a triangle formation, so the centre demon would reach the line first, followed by the next two back, and then the final two. The warriors have at least fifteen boulders to complete the challenge with. None of the Demons possessed regenerative powers.

Ring Count[]

Later seasons introduced the concept of the Demons leaving rings at the point they were shot. This sometimes led to unequal numbers of rings for the participating warriors.
